ABOUT US

RED TENT is an innovative initiative by the Summa Sunshine Foundation, dedicated to reshaping the menstrual health landscape through a circular ecosystem. Through our interactive workshops, safe spaces, and educational programs, we equip girls with the knowledge they need to manage their periods confidently. We focus on breaking down societal taboos, teaching holistic menstrual care, and connecting menstruation to nature and spiritual wellbeing. We produce reusable cloth pads handcrafted by widows, providing them with dignified employment opportunities.
Our Circular Ecosystem Model
Red Tent operates a circular ecosystem that addresses multiple societal needs in a sustainable manner.
Education & Health
We provide menstrual health education to girls, equipping them with the knowledge to care for their bodies.
Employment
Our reusable cloth pads are produced by widows, providing them with stable jobs and a sense of purpose.
Environmental Impact
Each reusable pad reduces the waste caused by single-use products. By choosing cloth pads, we help prevent the production of thousands of tons of waste one woman can produce the equivalent of a football field’s worth of waste in disposable pads over her lifetime.
Through this ecosystem, we bring together education, employment, and sustainability in a model that benefits everyone involved.
WHERE ARE WE TODAY
We currently operate in Bengaluru Rural and surrounding areas, with plans to expand throughout Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and eventually across India. We partner with schools, and community centers to reach as many girls and women as possible. Our long-term goal is to ensure that women across rural and urban communities have access to menstrual education and sustainable solutions.
